Lucia Newell will sing with Alma Brasileira and Friends. Guitarist Joan Griffith and Brazilian recorderist Clea Galhano and Lucia have been playing together over the last few years, and will be joined on the 21st by pianist Laura Caviani, also of Sambanova, and Gordy Johnson (bass) and Gary Gauger (drums), in an evening of all Brazilian music.

Rapturous vocalist Lucia Newell and elegant guitarist Joan Griffith are long-time musical collaborators. Their 1995 CD Enter You, Enter Love is a warm and engaging journey through Brazilian bossa nova and Brazilian Carnival Music.

This larger ensemble will play tunes from their soon to be released CD, including songs by Jobim, Gismonti, Baden Powell, Hermeto Pascoal, originals by Joan Griffith and Lucia Newell, and many others, in a post celebration of Carnaval.

Come ready to enjoy samba and bossa nova.
