Celebrate Boxing Day with Bill Carrothers – one of the most inspired and moving pianists working in jazz. His sound has earned him gigs with Joe Beck, Curtis Fuller, Eric Kamau Gravatt, Lee Konitz, Matt “Guitar” Murphy and Dewey Redman, to name a few. The Upper Peninsula resident is a Twin Cities native.
Bill Carrothers was raised in the Twin Cities, lives in the Upper Peninsula and is very popular in Europe. While it may sound like the plot of a Coen brothers movie, this is Bill’s real life (although the Coens may want to consider a treatment). Carrothers has been playing piano professionally for over 20 years, racking up an impressive résumé. He has performed at top venues and events like the Village Gate (NYC), the Knitting Factory (NYC), New Morning (Paris), and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Billy's CDs as band leader display a sensitive and idiosyncratic style that is entirely absorbing.
