New York-based drummer, and Philly native, Ari Hoenig is an artist frequently referenced in conversations about where jazz is headed. His sweeping musical imagination and killer chops are helping lead jazz to a very stimulating location. On his new release, /Bert’s Playground/, Hoenig continues to elevate jazz drumming as an art form. He attended the prestigious North Texas College of Music before relocating to NYC. His many musical associations include Jean-Michel Pilc, Shirley Scott, Kenny Werner, Pat Martino, the Jazz Mandolin Project and many more. Gilad Hekselman is a native of Israel, and the guitarist is considered a rising star in NYC. His clear tone, outstanding technique and sophisticated chording set this young jazz man apart. Twin Cities bass great Adam Linz rounds out this compelling trio. Listen to some samples, Ari Hoenig has a mysace page at www.myspace.com/arihoenig
