Some ideas are so good that you never think of them. Fortunately, someone thought of this. Carole Martin and Debbie Duncan are sharing the stage for the first time, bringing together two of the Twin Town’s most captivating singers and most commanding stage presences. Martin was an adored nightclub chanteuse in the 1960s before taking an extended sabbatical from the stage. She came back in style, releasing two outstanding CDs since 2004. Her pure alto voice and emotional mastery of torch songs reaches deep into the psyche. Duncan, a star around these parts since arriving in the mid-1980s, mixes jazz, soul, Gospel and R&B with one of the most powerfully moving voices anywhere. Carole’s elegance and charisma meeting up with Debbie’s all-class-and-lots-of-sass audience rapport. Expect lots of standards on an exceptional weekend.
