Friday, March 23 - Saturday, March 24, Rick Carlson Quartet (9 pm, $10) |
|
Rick Carlson taught himself how to play the piano by studying the vast works of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, absorbing their techniques. Rick has been the pianist for the Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra since 1980, has opened for Rosemary Clooney and counts Madeleine Peyroux among his many fans. One of the favorite (and best) accompanists to singers in the Twin Cities, it is a true treat to experience Rick leading his own group. Basie and Ellington will be the focus of Rick’s fare. With Doug Haining (saxophone), Steve Pikal (bass) and Dick Bortolussi (drums).
