Friday, January 25 - Saturday, January 26, Greg Skaff (9 pm, $12)
Twenty years of performing internationally and as a regular on the New York jazz scene has earned guitarist Greg Skaff a reputation as a gifted band leader and sideman. Skaff's highly versatile playing – from earth-scorching blues to fluid ballads and steaming bebop – has merited his place playing alongside such legends as Stanley Turrentine, Ruth Brown and Freddie Hubbard. His credits also include fret-work for the likes of Jimmy Scott, Kevin Mahogany and Bobby Watson, as well as two critically acclaimed releases as a band leader. His latest release, Ellington Boulevard, is highly recommended. He’s never finer than in the guitar/organ trio setting, and he’s joined here by Bill Brown on the Hammond B-3 and Kenny Horst on drums.
