A free opening performance at 7:00pm by “Steve Kenny and the Bastids”, featuring Mr. Kenny on Trumpet with Jesse Mueller on Piano, Aaron Rupar on Drums, and Adam Tucker on Bass along with some very interesting weekly special guests. Part jam session, part stand-up comedy, and part game show, the Bastids are always a rousing warm up to the evening’s festivities.
David Bixler is a native of Wisconsin who took his saxophone and talent to NYC, where he has made quite a name. He has performed and toured with the orchestras of Lionel Hampton, Toshiko Akiyoshi and Duke Ellington. In 2000 he joined the Chico O’Farrill Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra, starting a long and fruitful collaboration with Grammy-winning pianist Arturo O’Farrill.
