Friday, August 10 - Saturday, August 11, Rick Germanson Trio (9 pm, $12) |
|
Rick Germanson is a highly in-demand jazz pianist in his hometown of New York City and beyond. Raised in Milwaukee, Rick moved to NYC shortly after winning the Grand Prize in the American Pianist Association Jazz Piano Competition in 1996. He has performed and/or recorded with greats like Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis and Marlena Shaw. “He's blessed by tons of technique, taste and a clarity of right-hand runs, an appreciation for complex rhythms and a love for Latin.” JazzTimes review of the CD Heights (Feb. 2004). His 2005 release You Tell Me was lauded by Downbeat magazine, which called him “a connoisseur of mainstream piano styles” while adding that “the tradition is no ball and chain.” Rick appears on many recordings by others, including Maximum Firepower by Louis Hayes and the Cannonball Legacy Band. Check out the Jazz Police preview here: www.jazzpolice.com/content/view/6378/115/
