ImageImage The Twin Cities Dean of Percussion Marv Dahlgren is the irrepressible drummer and vibe master is as fiery as ever. His 47 years with the Minnesota Orchestra, and his instructional books that are considered beat-keeping bibles around the world, are just a few of the many accomplishments of this fascinating and endearing gentleman. Marv has played under the musical direction of such greats as Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karian, Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland, and remains very active as a jazz musician.

"At 83 years young, Dahlgren is still the master! ... These infrequent performances are always full of surprises—don’t miss it". -Andrea Canter, Jazz Police

Friday, October 26 - Saturday, October 27, Jim Snidero Quartet (9 pm, $12)
ImageAlto sax man Jim Snidero is known for his masterful blend of composition, arrangement and improvisation in his ebullient playing.  Based in NYC, Jim has been called upon to add his alto touch to the Frank Sinatra Orchestra (for four years), the Akiyoshi Orchestra (for 20 years) and extensive tours with the Mingus Big Band.  (Rock-jazzer Sting, the piano men – Billy Joel & Elton John – and many other big stars have gotten in on the sound as well.)  On his own, the New York Times considers him “dazzling,” Downbeat dubbed him “a master musician” and Japan’s #1 jazz magazine called his release Strings “a masterpiece.”  A rare Twin Cities headlining stop for one of jazz’s premier alto sax players.
